Hunter Haas, a FOCUS missionary is Visiting Our Lady of Mercy! He is offering a talk entitled “Art of Accompaniment,” where he will be sharing insights from his work as a full-time Catholic missionary with topics such as:
• How to engage young people in the parish
• How to live out mission in our everyday life
• Discipleship and evangelization
We highly encourage you to attend this event and be a part of the dialogue on how we as a church community can more fully live out mission and evangelization.

He will also be at all of our Masses on July 27th & 28th, where he will share with us the mission of FOCUS and how you can help support this vital mission in engaging young Catholics in their faith. Hunter is now in his third year with FOCUS (The Fellowship of Catholic University Students) as a team director, where he currently leads a team of missionaries at the University of California Santa Barbara. Hunter and his team of missionaries have the opportunity to invite college students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church, inspiring and equipping them for a lifetime of Christ centered evangelization, discipleship and friendship in which they lead others to do the same. Almost 80% of those who leave the Catholic faith do so by the age of 23 (Pew Research). Like many young adults, as Hunter moved away to college, he experienced firsthand the struggles of staying grounded in the faith and striving to live a life of virtue and purpose. He was yearning for authenticity, meaning and identity, but failing to find it out in the world. During this crucial time in his life he encountered the joy of Christ's love and mercy and eventually led him to become a FOCUS missionary.
