N.I.C.E./Needs In Catholic Education is a program that has been running at Our Lady of Mercy for over 20 years. Amy Ballanco, former Religious Education Coordinator at OLM and now parish special needs advocate, created this program along with parents and guardians of special needs families, to guide and support the spirital needs of their children.Liturgy of the Word with Special Needs ia a liturgically based program that offers our families the opportunity to participate in the Catholic Massand to receive the sacraments. During 11am Mass, participants are quietly escorted to the lower gathering space to hear and participate in the Gospel Messageof the day in story, song, prayer and simple craft. This program works for and welcomes ALL AGE GROUPS. Afterward all return to join in the continuation of the Mass celebration. All items and furniture used will be properly sanitized both before and after use. Each participant will have individual craft supply basketsthat will not be used by anyone else. masks will be worn by the group leader and are optional for participants. We welcome and look forward to new families joining our group. There is no fee and donations are accepted. A special thank you to our parish Knights of Columbus for their continued generous donations to our program.
